  1. Due to down turn of world economic car manufacture around the world try to produce car which is small engine power (cc), less fuel consumption, more performance, environmental friendly, easy maintenance, small design, futuristic features and not to forget digital control. As we know new generation car will control by performance chip.

In our country Malaysia one of the successful car maker was Perodua beside Proton. Below is a picture taken from Viva engine which is installed with so called magnetic fuel saver.

There is several way how to increase your car performance. Like what my friend told me that you can use magnet from computer hard disk and place it on fuel pipe line on your car engine no matter what brand is your car.

Another way to increase your car performance was install with Hydro fuel. Hydro fuel is a technique to combine hydrogen gas with normal petrol. This hydrogen gas was extracted from water and sent to engine to burn together with petrol. To know more about hydro fuel you can read previous post on this blog.

So beside you got extra power you also save your car's fuel consumption. Below is a illustration how the technology can save fuel and increase performance.

    Car Perfomance Calculation

    Normal engine-100%
    Magnetic fuel saver-30%
    Hydro fuel-30%

    Fuel save between 30-40%
    Total perfomance up to 160%

*Note: The calculation are not scientifically proven but according to driver which was admit and feel the change (their car) in their daily driving.

Some of us who are thinking of buying the Perodua Myvi are now considering buying the top of the range Perodua Viva 1000cc Premium instead. So let's see a little comparison about this 2 models. If you have anything to add, please feel free to comment and contribute to the discussion.

    Power

Interestingly, it seems that the same 1.0 liter DVVT EJ-VE engine in the Perodua Viva makes more torque than the Perodua Myvi's 1.0 liter DVVT EJ-VE engine. The Viva claims to make 90Nm of torque at 3,600rpm, while the Myvi 1.0 liter only makes 88Nm at 3,600rpm - that's a minor difference of only 2Nm though.

Since the Perodua Viva 1.0 liter would clearly beat the Myvi 1.0 in terms of power to weight ratio, so let's compare the Myvi 1.3 to the Viva 1.0 Premium instead. The Myvi 1.3 weighs 955kg and puts out 86 horsepower. That's a power to weight ratio of 0.09 horsepower per kg. As for the Perodua Viva 1000cc Premium, it weighs 800kg and puts out 60 horsepower - that gives it a power to weight ratio of 0.075 horsepower per kg.

So we can conclude that in a drag race, the Viva won't be able to smoke it's larger sibling in stock form. That doesn't mean the Viva is terribly slow - in a previous supermini shootout done together with folks at NST Life & Times, I found that the Myvi effortlessly smoked other superminis with larger 1.5 liter engines.

Another thing to point out is the Perodua Myvi 1.3 liter uses a 4-cylinder engine, and 4-cylinder engines are alot smoother than 3-cylinder engines like the one found in the Perodua Viva. 3-cylinders have more vibration, which might end up being felt by you in the steering wheel and other points in the chassis.

    Fuel Economy

According to Perodua's own charts, the Perodua Viva 1000cc Premium can travel 17.5km per liter of petrol on a combined cycle which I suspect involves alot of light footed driving and highway cruising. This is for the manual transmission. The Myvi 1.3 manual is rated at 17.1km per liter of petrol. Very similar fuel consumption, however the people on the streets who actually own the Myvi 1.3 manual reports actual mileage of about 13 to 14 km per liter if driven frugally.

As for the Auto transmission, Perodua says the Myvi 1.3 Auto can get 13.5 km per liter, however the average man on the street usually gets about 10 to 11 km per liter. Comparing it to the Viva 1.0 liter automatic, Perodua says it can get 15.1km per liter, so expect about 12km per liter in reality.

Thus we can assume the Viva automatic should be a little more frugal than the Perodua Myvi automatic, but for the manual transmission models actual fuel economy should prove to be about the same.

    Space

The Perodua Viva is actually longer in the interior than the Perodua Myvi at 1845mm compared to the Perodua Myvi's 1835mm, but a great margin narrower. Having a long interior is important, it ensures the rear passenger legroom is at comfortable levels, just like the Perodua Myvi's. However, being narrower the downside is you can't really fit 3 people in the rear bench comfortably, making the Perodua Viva more of a 4-seater than a 5-seater. The Viva's boot is only 149 liters with the rear bench upright compared to the Myvi's 255 liters, significantly smaller, however you can extend this size by dropping the rear passenger bench to create a 449 liter space.

    Ride and Handling

Nothing much can be said about the Perodua Myvi's handling abilities other than the fact that it'll probably get you to work and back safely. From what I've heard from some journalists who've driven the car, I think I shouldn't expect much of the Viva's either. Which is a shame as the Kelisa was a somewhat fun drive. Many will miss the Kelisa's zippy DNA which is reportedly missing in the new Viva. If you want a driver's small car, go get the Proton Savvy.

    Equipment levels

One thing I am concerned about is the lack of an integrated CD player head unit in the Perodua Viva, which means Viva owners will have to be careful about where they park their cars lest their mirrors get smashed and their head units stolen. However, this means the CD player can be easily swapped.

The equipment level of the Perodua Viva 1.0 liter standard is disappointing to be honest, not even proper alloy wheels are supplied, instead you are given steel wheels. This means a difference of roughly RM4k on average gets you airbags, ABS, proper alloy wheels, wing mirrors with signal lamps, roof spoiler, and etc. I'm really not sure if it's worth it or not - I'll leave it up to you.

The Perodua Myvi on the other hand has just about everything you need in the baseline 1.3 liter model. It also feels more premium because of an interior design that looks abit more higher grade, as well as Optitron-style meters which are self illuminating, unlike the backlit meter clusters of the Perodua Viva.

    Safety

Both the Viva Premium and Myvi Premium have dual airbags, antilock brakes - the usual stuff. The Perodua Myvi's Japanese cousin the 2005 Daihatsu Sirion scored a 4 star score in the Euro NCAP crash test for adult protection, while crash test results of the previous gen Daihatsu Mira that the Perodua Viva is based managed a 3 star rating.

Perodua Myvi 1300cc Premium AT Metallic: RM49,315.80

The differences between the non-Premium and Premium versions of the Perodua Viva is roughly about RM4,000, while in the Myvi it is only about RM2,900 or so.

So yeah, Perodua Viva 1000cc Premium Auto Metallic at RM44,200 or the Perodua Myvi 1300cc Premium AT Metallic at RM49,315.80? That's a difference of about RM5,000 there for a bigger engine, slightly more performance, a minor decrease in fuel consumption frugalness, a wider interior space, and a bigger boot.

The boot space doesn't matter to me - both boots are too small for serious usage unless you put the rear bench seats down.

Is that extra RM5,000 to go from A-segment to B-segment worth it, or would you rather save the money?
  3. It's a good news for whom that prefer to by a new Perodua Alza. For this 2011 Perodua will be launch a new Perodua Alza Exclusive Edition. But dont be angry if u cant get it,cause this model were produce for several unit only. This special limited version of the Alza Advanced variant, will be launched around mid-2011 to commemorate a visit by former Malaysia Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad—his first in a decade—to Perodua’s manufacturing plants yesterday.
Unlike the Perodua Viva Elite Exclusive Edition and the Perodua Myvi Limited Edition, the Alza Exclusive Edition will be limited to 500 units. The pricing and equipment level will be announced closer to the car’s launch. Expect the familiar strategy of some visual differentiation, more colours and interior updates for a slight increase in price.
Perodua has pledged to donate RM 1000 for every unit of the Alza Exclusive Edition sold, which will raise RM 500,000 for the Perdana Leadership Foundation. The national automaker also encourages individuals and corporations to donate by buying the special edition Alza at a premium over the finalised pricing. (The remainder of purchase price minus selling price will be donated to the foundation.)

  5. Perodua’s new MD Aminar Rashid Salleh unveiled to Utusan Malaysia that we can expect a new Perodua Myvi somewhere around April 2011, with a Myvi SE to be launched a couple of months later around June 2011. He also revealed that a new 1.5 liter variant of the Myvi is in the works. This makes sense since they are already making the transverse-install front wheel drive 1.5 liter 3SZ-VE engine for the Alza, why not put it in the Myvi?

Apparently the new Myvi will have a new look. It’s actually about time for the Myvi to be refreshed, so Perodua is pretty much on schedule for a typical 5 year lifecycle with a facelift in the middle. The Myvi was launched in May 2005 and after 5 years, time for a replacement in the first half of 2011. If you remember, in mid-February we saw the Myvi’s Japanese cousin refreshed with a new look. Frankly, I don’t expect the Myvi to look 100% like that model as with each new rebadge product, Perodua has been moving away further and further from the JDM model’s exterior and interior.
I feel Toyota/Daihatsu has been slowly moving their JDM models to target specific niche markets with very tailor-made products. They have so many little cars based on the same platform over there in Japan, and from the marketing material of the new Passo/Boon, it’s quite obvious that the car is now targeted towards young ladies. In Malaysia, the Myvi is a unisex mass market car, so I’m expecting both exterior and interior styling to differ significantly in the details, while generally keeping the same shape.
Look at the related link below to find out more about the new Passo.
  6. Standing at 1.3 litres of engine capacity, the 'Perodua Myvi' remains the top choice when it comes to buying a car. Especially at entry level, most 'Malaysians' seem to lean towards this particular model. I, myself drive one. And I am about to tell you what it feels like driving one, after 3 months.
I think that it the price of RM40,000 (give and take) for a small car like this is a little overpriced. But, the plus points of the 'Myvi' is its spacious compartments inside. The interior can even cater to a giant 6 footer, I believe. Your head will never have to bump against the roof anymore.
Driving experience when on the 'Myvi' is like driving a 'Mini Cooper' (I have never driven one yet). Power steering makes it effective at turning, with its small dimension. Talking about car size, it is relatively very easy to park. Personally, I do not need to change gears from reverse to drive more than twice. That, I think is the biggest advantage a 1.3 litres capacity car can provide; the small size advantage (yet decent engine performance).
You will need to refuel every 350-400km for RM60 (give and take for 'RON95' petrol). Always diligently applying overdrive only when necessary, inflating tyre pressures to 220kPa, letting the 'Myvi' "roll" most of the time on road; these are some of the practices that make up the statistic for the RM60 fuel price tag. For the overdrive part, the car is driven from 0-60kph(overdrive off). Higher than that speed, I always turn the overdrive on. Long distances can make your 'Myvi' save a lot. Driving a great distance like 200km nonstop on a highway only takes up half of your fuel tank.
Acceleration for the 'Myvi' is rather "poor". As it runs on automatic transmission, that might explain. But, in most cases, I find that switching to 'OD off' helps a ton. Then again, I do not rely on this for overtaking cars. Automatic cars are rather more suited for comfortable and highway and traffic jams driving. Note that I had been driving the 1.3 litres engine capacity cars with manual transmission, where acceleration is the major strength.
Overall, for its price, comfort, maneuverability and capacity, it is worth taking a test drive on the 'Myvi'. It has its own reasons for one of the top national cars here in Malaysia. Although I will never understand its motto at the back that says "Building Cars People First". Good luck.
  7. Perodua launched the new Perodua ViVA Elite today, aimed at offering the market a variant with a more stylish image compared to the original ViVA. It is an aesthetic modification in the style of the Myvi SE, and at the same time they’ve revamped the model line-up a little.

The ViVA was first introduced with 660cc, 850cc, 1,000cc and 1,000cc premium variants. Now it has restructured the model lineup, offering the 660 BX MT, 660 EX MT, 850 MT, 1.0 AT, 1.0 ELITE MT, 1.0 ELITE AT, and the 1.0 ELITE EZi. That’s three different variants for the new ViVA ELITE.

Externally, the ViVA Elite has its own front bumper with integrated foglamps, front grille and its own engine hood design. On the side you’ll see chrome door handles, side skirts, and 14 inch 12-spoke alloy wheels. On the back you’ll see a new rear bumper with a honeycomb grille design, and the 1.0 ELITE EZi model (note, this is different from the ELITE AT) gets an additional rear spoiler. The windows of the ViVA Elite also feature a UV protection coating that is said to reject 91% of UV rays.
On the inside you get a new 1-DIN head unit with MP3 and WMA support, an underside tray under the passenger seat, seat backpockets, a new seat fabric design, and fabric trim on the door panels. All ViVA ELITE models will get seat height adjusters for the driver’s seat, and electrically adjustable side mirrors. On the ELITE EZi, these side mirrors are also electrically retractable and have integrated turn signals.

Only the ViVA 1.0 ELITE EZi gets a full load of safety features including dual SRS airbags for the front, ABS brakes, EBD and Brake Assist. Power steering is also only available on the ELITE models. The other non-Elite models are left with just basic features such as reverse sensors on the 850 and 1.0 model, and a CD player on the 660 EX, 850 and 1.0 model. The following are the prices for the new Perodua ViVA range including the non-Elite models:
    • Perodua ViVA Elite M/T – RM37,900
    • Perodua ViVA Elite A/T – RM40,900
    • Perodua ViVA Elite EZi – RM44,900
    • Perodua ViVA 1.0 AT – RM36,900
    • Perodua ViVA 850 MT – RM32,900
    • Perodua ViVA 660 EX MT – RM28,900
    • Perodua ViVA 660 BX MT – RM25,300
  8. Here's my thoughts about kereta viva

The Perodua Viva is a city car manufactured by Malaysian automaker Perodua since May 10, 2007. It was originally planned to be the replacement of Perodua's current city cars - the Perodua Kancil and the Perodua Kelisa. Once launched, Perodua decided to market it as a Kelisa replacement only, and will continue to sell the Kancil. The Perodua Viva is based on the 6th generation Daihatsu Mira. All of the Perodua Viva models uses Daihatsu DVVT engines. Only the Premium version comes with dual airbags and ABS

    Specifications

The Perodua Viva was initially launched with 6 models. They are 660EX manual, 850EX manual, 1.0SX Standard manual, 1.0SXi Premium manual, 1.0EZ Standard automatic and the 1.0EZi Premium automatic. The range was later updated on the 23rd of July 2009 with the Viva 660BX manual (Kancil replacement model) ,Viva Elite manual, Viva Elite automatic and the Viva Elite EZi.[1]
The suspension is typical of small hatchbacks with MacPherson struts in front located by an L-shaped lower arm. At the rear, Viva is fitted with a torsion beam axle and trailing arms. The suspension geometry has been optimised for better steering response and ride comfort. The 1000 cc models have power-assisted steering, optional auto transmission and also a front stabilizer. The 660 cc and 850 cc are barebones basic models, devoid of power steering and auto transmission. As the Viva is based on Daihatsu Mira Avy, a kei car, it has a compact exterior dimensions and a small turning radius. It is roomy for its class, with enough room for 4 adults comfortably.

    Engines and performance

Viva comes with 3-cylinder engine choices: 660 cc, 850 cc and 1000 cc. They are familiar engines but updated with modern technology such as DVVT (Dynamic Variable Valve Timing) and EFI, and they all have twin overhead camshafts to provide even stronger low-speed pulling power, resulting in fewer gearchanges, yet also manages to increase top end power. Other innovations include a resin port intake manifold and a head cover incorporating an air-cleaner casing.
    • EF-VE 660 (659 cc) – 37 kW (50 PS; 50 bhp) at 7200 rpm, 58 N·m (43 lb·ft) at 4400 rpm also used in Daihatsu Hijet
    • ED-VE 850 (847 cc) – 39 kW (53 PS; 52 bhp) at 6000 rpm, 76 N·m (56 lb·ft) at 4000 rpm which is developed from the engine that powered the Daihatsu Move
    • EJ-VE 1000 (989 cc) – 45 kW (61 PS; 60 bhp) at 6000 rpm, 90 N·m (66 lb·ft) at 3600 rpm also used in some versions of Daihatsu Sirion and Perodua Myvi
Fuel economy varies from 15.1 km/l (42.6 mpg (imp)) for the fully loaded 1000 cc auto version to the very thrifty 18.7 km/l (53 mpg) for the basic 660 cc model. For the 1000 cc manual the 0–100 km/h time is about 12.80 seconds. The engine torque band is not peaky and timing it takes to hit 70 km/h (43 mph) is good. It may be pushed to 130 km/h (81 mph) without much effort. However the engine drones at such speeds. Top speed is around 160 km/h (99 mph).
